W. Guinn Paulk, M.D.

Dr. Paulk is a board-certified ophthalmologist with 25 years experience in ophthalmology. He specializes in a full range of procedures including refractive and cataract surgeries and is committed to providing outstanding care to all of his patients. Dr. Paulk has been in private practice for over 20 years and has performed thousands of vision correction procedures. He has worked hard to build one of the largest, quality eye care clinics in the Central Alabama area.

Dr. Paulk was born in Hartford, AL and grew up on a farm just south of Black, AL. Before entering college, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served four years as an air traffic controller. He then attended the University of Memphis where he graduated with a degree in electrical engineering.

Dr. Paulk went on to attend medical school at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine and served his internship at Methodist Hospital in Memphis, TN. He then completed his residency at the University of Tennessee Department of Ophthalmology and went on to serve the Montgomery and Wetumpka areas in private practice for the past 20 years. Dr. Paulk has held numerous leadership positions including two terms as Chief of Staff at Baptist East Hospital in Montgomery, one term as Chief of Staff at Elmore Community Hospital, and two years as President of the Alabama Academy of Ophthalmology. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons, the Medical Association of the State of Alabama, the Montgomery County Medical Society, and the International Society of Refractive Surgeons.

Dr. Paulk's wife Nancy works closely with him as a surgical nurse and is also the office administrator. They have four children and one grandchild and are active members of Frazer United Methodist Church in Montgomery, AL. They love spending time at the beach and vacationing together with family and friends.

S. Douglas Owens, M.D.

Dr. Owens is a board-certified ophthalmologist and has the distinction of being the areas only board-certified, fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist. He performs special procedures including selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT), laser peripheral iridotomy (LPI), filtration surgery, EX-PRESS Mini Device surgery, glaucoma shunt surgery, and many more. He also offers state-of-the-art cataract surgery and treatment of various ocular diseases. Dr. Owens' attention to detail and compassion for his patients sets him apart as he seeks to deliver outstanding care and the best possible visual outcomes for his patients.

Dr. Owens grew up in Montgomery and attended Lee High School. After graduating with honors from Huntingdon College with a bachelors degree in Chemistry, he went on to attend medical school at The University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham. While in school, Dr. Owens completed vitreo-retinal research at the Eye Foundation Hospital and recieved the Richard M. Feist Research Elective Award given by two distinguished ophthalmologists, Drs. Robert Morris and Douglas Witherspoon. He served as a medical intern at the Baptist Hospitals in Birmingham, AL and then completed his residency in ophthalmology at the UAB Eye Foundation Hospital. He then went on to complete a glaucoma fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa prior to returning to Montgomery.

Dr. Owens has been in private practice for almost 20 years. He maintains several professional memberships which include the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Alabama Academy of Ophthalmology, the Medical Society of Alabama, and the Medical Society of Montgomery County. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys hunting, fishing, life on the lake, Alabama football, and spending time with his family and two children.
